Claim independently assessed to be very substantial 

LONDON, Sept. 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — ATOME, the leading low-carbon fertiliser developer and the UK’s only dedicated international industrial scale low-carbon fertiliser company, provides an update further to previous announcements regarding the Power Purchase Agreement (“PPA”) for the Villeta Project in Paraguay (“Villeta” or “Project”). 

ATOME remains in discussions relating to ATOME’s shovel ready Villeta Project, the largest single foreign industrial investment in the history of Paraguay totaling US$665 million. Notwithstanding this, ATOME as a public company, having received positive legal advice, is mindful of its responsibilities to its shareholders and its obligations to protect its legitimate rights. 

Against this background on 17 September 2026, ATOME PLC, through White & Case LLP, will today serve a Notice of Dispute and Intent to Submit a Claim to Arbitration on the Republic of Paraguay (“the Notice”) pursuant to the Agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of Paraguay for the Promotion and Protection of Investments (“the BIT”).  

The Notice states that an investment dispute exists as a result of Paraguay’s alleged acts and omissions in violation of the BIT, including its revocation of the Presidential Decrees issued by the Paraguayan State that supported the Project and provided certainty on term and price under the PPA. 

The Notice urges the Paraguayan State to engage in discussions to amicably resolve the matter.  

The UK Government has been informed of the submission of the Notice as has the Embassies of the EU, France, Germany and the United States in Paraguay as well as the Paraguayan Embassy in London. In accordance with the BIT, the Notice states if the dispute has not been resolved within a period of three months i.e. a viable resolution not achieved ATOME will pursue its claim under the BIT against Paraguay at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes in Washington D.C. 

If allowed to be completed, the Project would make Paraguay a world leader in the production of green fertiliser and the fertiliser industry in South America, strengthening local and international food security, creating some 4,000 jobs during construction and over 1,000 jobs during operations, and making material contributions to the country’s GDP and economy. 

ATOME will continue to make constructive efforts to amicably resolve the relevant issues but will pursue its rights under international law if it deems necessary.

This visual spectacle offers an intuitive interpretation of force distribution, showcasing how a seemingly fragile sheet of paper can withstand tremendous loads through structural transformation. Standing in front of the work, one can truly experience the interplay between artistic design and structural science. 

Inspired by traditional origami, ANTA FOLD was developed by the ANTA Innovation Laboratory, in collaboration with the research teams led by Professor Zhong You from the University of Oxford, Professor Yan Chen from Tianjin University, and Professor Guanyun Wang from Zhejiang University. By combining this traditional art with modern engineering mechanics, the technology applies origami’s structural and mechanical diversity to running-shoe midsoles. Through the deliberate arrangement of geometric units, a quantifiable “structural engineering philosophy” is brought to life. 

ANTA FOLD has built an extendable “structural matrix platform” based on this highly engineered structural system. By parametrically adjusting the origami units, the midsole structure can be customized according to the needs of different user groups, enabling lightweighting and performance optimization from material to structure. 

The H1 Waterbomb negative Poisson’s ratio configuration, formed by a staggered arrangement of classic six-crease units, makes the folded midsole structure clearly visible. It concentrates energy upon landing and releases it rapidly on take-off, delivering high energy absorption and responsive rebound for everyday commuting and urban running. The Z1 Square-twist and M1 Multi-layer configurations, meanwhile, are designed respectively for rolling and energy-absorption scenarios, a demonstration of the technology’s scalability.

Roma, 17/09/2026 – Una poltrona può apparire accogliente, avere un’imbottitura morbida, un meccanismo elettrico evoluto e uno schienale reclinabile, eppure risultare poco adatta alla persona che la utilizza ogni giorno. Il problema, in molti casi, nasce dalla relazione tra le dimensioni della seduta e quelle del corpo. Una profondità eccessiva può impedire di appoggiare correttamente la schiena allo schienale; una seduta troppo alta può lasciare i piedi senza un sostegno stabile; una troppo corta può distribuire diversamente il carico sulle cosce. Sono questioni note nell’ergonomia della seduta, dove altezza poplitea, lunghezza gluteo-poplitea e dimensioni del sedile vengono messe in relazione proprio per valutare quanto una sedia sia realmente proporzionata al suo utilizzatore. 

È su questa relazione fra corpo e poltrona che

La profondità della seduta della poltrona è uno degli aspetti che più facilmente vengono sottovalutati durante una scelta basata soprattutto sull’impressione dei primi minuti. Una seduta molto profonda può sembrare ampia e confortevole, soprattutto osservandola in showroom, ma la valutazione cambia quando viene rapportata alla lunghezza della coscia della persona. Se il bordo anteriore arriva troppo vicino alla parte posteriore del ginocchio, chi utilizza la poltrona può essere portato a scivolare in avanti. In questo modo la schiena si allontana dallo schienale e il sostegno lombare, anche quando è presente e ben imbottito, perde parte della propria funzione pratica. Una seduta eccessivamente corta pone il problema opposto: una porzione maggiore della coscia rimane senza sostegno. Non esiste quindi una profondità universalmente corretta indipendentemente dalla corporatura. 

È esattamente il tema sul quale Francesco Fabretti di Romana Relax, ha concentrato la propria attenzione da molti anni: dal 2010 porta avanti un approccio in cui la profondità viene messa in relazione con la misura del femore e con la possibilità di arrivare con la schiena correttamente allo schienale. Fabretti rivendica di avere posto con particolare anticipo, nel mercato italiano delle poltrone relax
, il problema delle sedute standard che non sempre coincidono con le proporzioni di chi dovrà utilizzarle. È una posizione maturata nella propria esperienza professionale e non va confusa con l’affermazione di un primato storico nazionale: il punto interessante, sul piano tecnico e commerciale, è piuttosto aver trasformato la misura della persona in uno dei criteri preliminari della vendita. 

La stessa logica riguarda l’altezza della seduta della poltrona. Una persona di statura contenuta seduta su un modello troppo alto può ritrovarsi con i piedi che non poggiano stabilmente sul pavimento. Se cerca di compensare avanzando verso il bordo, però, perde parte del contatto con lo schienale. Una persona molto alta, al contrario, può trovare scomoda una seduta eccessivamente bassa. Altezza, profondità e schienale sono quindi variabili collegate: modificarne una cambia il modo in cui vengono utilizzate le altre. L’ergonomia delle sedute studia proprio questa interdipendenza attraverso misure quali altezza poplitea, profondità del sedile e caratteristiche dello schienale. Anche lo standard internazionale ISO 9241-5:2024, dedicato all’ergonomia delle postazioni di lavoro, include fra i propri principi il concetto di “fit”, cioè l’adattamento fra attrezzatura e utilizzatore, insieme alla possibilità di regolazione e al supporto posturale. 

L’OSHA segnala inoltre che una seduta troppo alta può costringere a mantenere i piedi senza appoggio o indurre la persona ad avanzare, perdendo il sostegno della schiena; una profondità eccessiva può invece esercitare pressione nella zona posteriore del ginocchio e rendere più difficile utilizzare correttamente il supporto lombare. Sono indicazioni formulate per le sedute operative, non prescrizioni cliniche per una poltrona domestica, ma aiutano a spiegare perché la semplice sensazione di morbidezza non sia sufficiente per giudicare il comfort. 

Il tema diventa ancora più importante in relazione alle
poltrone per anziani
. Una ricerca dedicata ha osservato come l’abbinamento fra sedute relativamente alte e profondità abbondanti possa risultare problematico quando la persona non riesce a poggiare i piedi sul pavimento. Anche in questo caso non esiste una misura valida per tutti: è proprio la variabilità antropometrica a rendere utile la possibilità di scegliere dimensioni differenti. 

L’impostazione seguita da Romana Relax parte da questo stesso problema pratico. Fabretti descrive l’obiettivo con un’espressione semplice: ottenere una poltrona “calzante a pennello”, nella quale la profondità consenta alla schiena di raggiungere correttamente lo schienale e l’altezza permetta ai piedi di trovare un appoggio naturale. È una distinzione importante anche sul piano del linguaggio: non significa attribuire alla poltrona effetti terapeutici o sostenere che determinate dimensioni possano curare disturbi o patologie. Significa progettare e scegliere una seduta cercando una maggiore coerenza fra geometria del prodotto e caratteristiche fisiche dell’utilizzatore. 

Molte caratteristiche possono essere confrontate attraverso una scheda tecnica, ma il tema delle proporzioni riporta inevitabilmente l’attenzione sulla prova fisica. Due persone della stessa statura possono avere proporzioni differenti tra busto e arti inferiori; allo stesso modo, due poltrone con ingombri esterni simili possono offrire una superficie utile di seduta diversa a causa dello spessore dello schienale, delle imbottiture e della costruzione. Provare una poltrona significa quindi verificare qualcosa che una fotografia o la sola misura esterna non riescono a rappresentare.

Lo racconta l’osservatorio interno di Accademia Domani, piattaforma italiana di formazione online attiva dal 2010, che alla ripresa dell’anno formativo ha analizzato le scelte di studio dei propri iscritti: un campione di oltre 764.000 studenti formati in quindici anni, distribuiti su più di 220 corsi con certificato in venticinque aree tematiche. 

Il dato più netto degli ultimi dodici mesi è la crescita dell’area dedicata all’intelligenza artificiale: le iscrizioni ai corsi del gruppo — dal percorso introduttivo fino a machine learning, prompt engineering e AI per la produttività — sono aumentate del 100% rispetto all’anno precedente. Un segnale coerente con quanto accade nelle aziende italiane, dove gli strumenti di AI generativa entrano nei flussi di lavoro più in fretta delle competenze necessarie a governarli. 

Accanto alla novità, però, l’osservatorio registra la tenuta dei grandi classici. Nella classifica dei corsi più seguiti dell’ultimo anno, ai primi posti figurano le lingue, Excel, l’HACCP, il marketing: la fotografia di un Paese che studia per lavorare — il foglio di calcolo che non passa mai di moda, le lingue che aprono mercati, gli attestati obbligatori come l’HACCP che restano il primo requisito per chiunque lavori a contatto con gli alimenti. 

Il profilo dello studente digitale smentisce più di un luogo comune. Il 75% degli studenti si forma per ragioni legate al lavoro: aggiornarsi nella propria mansione, cambiare settore, superare una selezione. E lo fa nei ritagli veri della giornata: in pausa pranzo ma soprattutto la sera tra le 21 e le 23, a conferma che la formazione online è diventata un’abitudine domestica, non un’eccezione. 

C’è infine il dato che misura la concretezza dei percorsi: 23749 Certificati erogati nell’ultimo anno — attestati con codice QR che i datori di lavoro possono verificare in pochi secondi, e che sempre più spesso vengono effettivamente controllati in fase di selezione.

Joint development of high-performance AI computing (HPC) solutions to pursue global OEM opportunities and expand mass-production programs 

SEOUL, South Korea, Sept. 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — HL Klemove, HL Group’s autonomous driving solutions specialist, has entered into a strategic partnership with global IT company Lenovo to spearhead the autonomous driving market. LONDON, Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Fortune unveiled the Fortune 500 Europe ranking for 2026, highlighting the continent’s top companies. The launch will be marked at the bell opening of the London Stock Exchange. Volkswagen maintains its lead position, with revenues up 3%, widening the gap with Shell, whose revenues fell 5% last year. 

For the first time in the list’s four-year history, Germany no longer contributes the most companies to the list. The UK takes the lead with 76 companies, followed by Germany with 73 and France with 66. 

Profit growth returned to the Fortune 500 Europe companies after a 5% decline the previous year, with profits increasing by 3% to just over $1 trillion. Overall, revenues grew by 4% to $15.5 trillion, equivalent to half of the region’s GDP and 13% of world GDP. The overall profit margin shrank again, to 6.5%, down from the high of 7.1% for the 2024 list. Cost control is reflected in the combined employment figure for the 500, which shrank by 1% to 34.6 million, pushing up revenue per employee by 5% and profit per employee by 4%. 

At the top, Volkswagen reported $363 billion in revenue, while FMS Wertmanagement Group closes the list at #500 with $7.4 billion, pushing the list’s lower threshold to over $7 billion for the first time. HSBC again tops profits, with over $22 billion in 2025 – one of only 25 firms over $10 billion. 

The number of women CEOs has risen further to 43, the highest for Fortune 500 Europe, and total revenues for women-led firms increased by 24% to $1.2 billion. Some 8.6% of companies are led by women – fewer than one in ten and below the 11% representation in the U.S.-based Fortune 500. BP (#4), led by Meg O’Neill, is the only woman-led company in the top 10, and with Engie (#39), one of two in the top 50.

Financial services is the largest sector in the list, responsible for 24% of revenue, 40% of profits, and 14% of employees. Financial services, energy, and motor vehicles & parts together account for over half of all revenues and profits on the list, and dominate the top 10. Shell, Glencore, BP, and TotalEnergies claim four of the top five spots. Germany’s industrial strength is reflected via Volkswagen (#1), BMW (#7), and Mercedes-Benz (#8). The UK’s strong energy presence secures two of the top five spots, and France leads with the most workers across its 66 companies.
