FIRENZE – La Regione Toscana ha trasmesso a tutti i sindaci una nota sulle misure di biosicurezza e di controllo previste del commissario straordinario alla peste suina africana. 

Attualmente le zone soggette a restrizione interessano alcuni territori delle province di Lucca, Massa-Carrara, Pistoia e Prato. La peste suina africana colpisce esclusivamente maiali e cinghiali e non si trasmette all’uomo. Le persone, tuttavia, possono trasportare involontariamente il virus attraverso fango e residui presenti su calzature, ruote, attrezzature e veicoli.

Le aree sono classificate in zona I, ad alto rischio ma senza casi accertati; zona II, con presenza della malattia nei cinghiali; zona III, con presenza della malattia nei suini domestici, con o senza casi nei cinghiali.

Nelle zone II e III, le attività all’aperto nelle aree agricole e naturali – tra cui trekking, ciclismo, pesca, lavori agricoli e forestali, ricerca di funghi e tartufi, manifestazioni, campeggi, utilizzo delle aree picnic, transumanza e alpeggio – devono svolgersi rispettando specifiche misure di biosicurezza. Per le attività agricole e forestali alcune prescrizioni si applicano anche nella zona I.

Non si tratta di un divieto generalizzato, ma è indispensabile: rimanere sui sentieri e sui percorsi segnalati tenere i cani al guinzaglio; non abbandonare rifiuti o avanzi di cibo e non alimentare i cinghiali; parcheggiare nelle aree indicate, evitando prati e zone con vegetazione; pulire e disinfettare calzature, ruote, attrezzature e mezzi dopo le attività; utilizzare prodotti disinfettanti idonei, rispettando scrupolosamente le indicazioni riportate sulle confezioni

Per le attività che prevedono la partecipazione di più di 20 persone è necessario ottenere preventivamente il parere favorevole dell’Azienda sanitaria competente. Il promotore deve inoltre informare tempestivamente il Comune interessato.

I Comuni sono chiamati ad affiggere l’apposita segnaletica nelle zone sottoposte a restrizione, diffondere le indicazioni alla cittadinanza e assicurare, dove previsto, l’organizzazione degli accessi, delle aree di parcheggio e dei necessari controlli.

In caso di ritrovamento di un cinghiale morto, ferito o in evidente difficoltà, non bisogna avvicinarsi né toccare l’animale. Occorre memorizzare la posizione e contattare il numero unico regionale 0573.306655, attivo tutti i giorni, festivi compresi, dalle ore 8 alle ore 20.

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. and LOS ANGELES, Aug. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Heart Aerospace today announced the successful first flight of the company’s X1 demonstrator aircraft. Spanning 106 feet, measuring 76 feet nose to tail, and weighing more than 25,000 pounds at takeoff, X1 is the largest battery-electric aircraft ever flown. 

The flight took place on Wednesday, August 12th, 2026, at Heart’s X1 flight-test base at Plattsburgh International Airport, a regional commercial airport serving a community of 20,000 people in upstate New York. The piloted mission lasted 27 minutes, during which X1 reached an altitude of 1,100 feet AGL and its all-electric propulsion system delivered more than one megawatt of power. 

The flight was conducted under an FAA Special Airworthiness Certificate in the Experimental Category (SAC-EC), with a test profile that included taxi, takeoff, climb, maneuvering, and landing. The mission was designed to demonstrate all-electric flight at a scale relevant to commercial airline operations. 

Powered entirely by batteries, X1 used approximately $5 worth of electricity during its first flight. The flight came amid a sustained surge in global jet fuel prices, which averaged $3.50 per gallon for the week ending August 7, up 63% year over year, highlighting the potential for electric propulsion to deliver structurally lower aircraft operating costs while decoupling airlines from the volatility of global oil markets.

Heart foresees this cost advantage widening over time through advances in battery technology, technology-enabled gains in crew efficiency, and the ES-30’s low exposure to a growing range of emissions-related aviation taxes and fees worldwide.

Initial Portfolio 

In order to establish its initial investment portfolio, the Company has entered into binding option agreements to purchase up to US$40 million of interests in special purpose vehicles (“SPVs”) managed by Rizvi Traverse (a company connected to Suhail Rizvi, Executive Chairman of Shaires and a related party to the Company), that provide exposure to some of the world’s most significant private technology companies: 

In addition, the Company has entered into a subscription agreement with a third-party SPV providing exposure to ByteDance (US$15.0 million), the leading global technology group behind TikTok, Douyin and Doubao. The Company has also entered into a subscription agreement to acquire an interest in Moonshot AI (US$5.0 million), the leading Chinese AI lab behind the Kimi series of open-source models. Furthermore, as part of its in-kind, share-for-share contribution programme, the Company has entered into contribution agreements with certain counterparties that are contributing US$14.8 million of interests in SPVs providing exposure to SandboxAQ, a leading AI and quantum computing company as well as U$12.0 million of shares in Colossal Biosciences, an advanced genetics and biosciences company working on “de-extinction”. The aggregate total maximum value of all the initial commitments amounts to US$86.7 million. 

The Company is in advanced discussions regarding further investments into leading private technology and AI companies and will provide regular updates when definitive agreements are signed, in keeping with the Company’s intention to build a portfolio in excess of US$500 million in the near-term. These opportunities are at varying stages of negotiation and documentation and there is no certainty that any will be completed. 

The initial portfolio will be funded, in part, by the Company’s institutional raise, conducted through direct subscriptions for new ordinary shares at US$20.00 per share, under which a first tranche of US$28.5 million has been completed through the subscription of 1,424,000 new ordinary shares as announced on 30 July 2026. The investments in SandboxAQ and Colossal Biosciences as part of the in-kind programme are funded by the issuance of 1,341,821 new ordinary shares (“Contribution Shares”). Under the in-kind programme, the Company will issue new ordinary shares at $20.00 per share. 

Retail Offer 

As announced in a separate release a retail offer (“WRAP Retail Offer”), managed by Marex, is being launched today at a price of $20.00 per share, the same price as the initial institutional raise. 

The Company’s capital raising programme is ongoing: a second institutional tranche is in progress alongside the retail offer. Across the two institutional tranches, in-kind programme and the retail offer, the Company is targeting a total raise of US$100 million. Capital Access Window 

Following the updates to the AIM Rules for Companies announced earlier this month, the Company has decided to utilise a Capital Access Window. This is a voluntary pause to the trading of a Company’s shares to make it easier for companies to reach a broader range of investors, including retail investors, during a fundraise. From 07:30am today, the Company’s shares will enter a Capital Access Window until a further announcement is made detailing the close of the WRAP Retail Offer. 

New Shares Admission and Total Voting Rights 

Due to adjustments for fractions in the share consolidation that took place on 9 June 2026 being accounted for in error, the number of the Company’s number of shares outstanding incorrectly included 15 shares. The actual number of shares outstanding as of today is 2,499,989 and not 2,500,004 as previously stated. 

Furthermore, an application will be made for the 741,821 Consideration Shares related to the investment in SandboxAQ and the 600,000 Consideration Shares related to the investment in Colossal Biosciences (together 1,341,821 Consideration Shares) to be admitted to trading on AIM (“Admission”), with admission expected on or around 21 August 2026. 

In accordance with the provisions of the Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules of the Financial Conduct Authority, the Company confirms that, following Admission, the Company will have 3,841,810 ordinary shares in issue and no ordinary shares held in treasury. The above figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations to determine if they are required to notify their interests in, or change to their interest in, the Company. The preliminary decision, which applies only in China, has not taken effect and, therefore, has not impacted the company’s customers or patients. The court’s ruling would take effect if Angel’s appeal is unsuccessful. 

Angel is confident that the A7 Premolar Extraction Solution does not infringe any valid patent. The Company has won several patent disputes against the Plaintiff in various jurisdictions around the world and strongly advocates for fair competition in the aligner and scanner market.

TORONTO, Aug. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Vale Base Metals (“VBM”, or the “Company”), a leading global supplier of critical minerals, today announced it is proceeding with the Coarse Particle Flotation (CPF) project (the “Project”) at its Salobo Copper Complex in Brazil, representing a step change that will significantly increase processing and production capacity with exceptional project economics. 

The Company anticipates start-up in the first half of 2028, approximately one year earlier than initially projected. This underscores VBM’s optimized construction strategy and enterprise-wide reorganization of its project approach, with increased agility and ability to execute, delivering sector-leading returns from its project portfolio and vast mineral endowment.   

The Project is expected to add 6 million tonnes to the Salobo plant’s annual ore processing capacity, bringing overall processing capacity to 42 million tonnes per year. Annual copper production is projected to increase by up to approximately 30,000 tonnes contained in concentrate, which will also carry approximately 15,000 ounces of gold as a byproduct, further enhancing Salobo’s production profile following record output in 2024 and 2025.

CPF Project will Reduce Bottlenecks  

The CPF Project is a brownfield expansion that will leverage Salobo’s high-quality orebody and existing infrastructure, reducing execution risk. Salobo is the largest copper operation in Brazil and a long-life, cornerstone asset for VBM. 

CPF will reduce grinding requirements at Salobo through the addition of a new flotation circuit that removes waste rock earlier in the processing stream, alleviating grinding bottlenecks, increasing metallurgical recoveries, and enabling higher throughput. The Project is expected to reduce the operation’s environmental impact with lower average energy and water usage compared to other methods. 

As part of Salobo’s strategic plan, total mine movements are expected to increase by approximately 7% benefiting from a number of initiatives including the introduction of new autonomous haulage equipment. 

VBM received the construction license for the CPF Project from IBAMA (Brazil Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources) ahead of schedule, enabling project implementation to begin earlier than planned. 

Wheaton and VBM Working Together to Fund the Project 

In addition, Wheaton Precious Metals (“Wheaton”) has agreed to provide $40 million to VBM to partially fund the capital associated with the Project. Payments will be made in two separate $20 million installments tied to project milestones. VBM and Wheaton have agreed to these payments in lieu of future milestone payments under the existing Salobo streaming agreement, which would have required Wheaton to potentially make annual payments over a 10-year period of up to $8 million to VBM, if a high-grade mine plan was implemented. 

VBM has reviewed the CPF Project plan and simplified its scope to support a lower capex estimate of approximately $215 million1, down from the initially projected $225-$275 million. Given Wheaton’s funding, VBM’s capital expenditure is expected to be approximately $175 million1. The Project’s low capital intensity of $5,000 – $6,000 per copper equivalent tonne is well below the industry average.

Innovation and Collaboration

Field testing has underpinned design assumptions and is continuing to accelerate operational training and provide valuable insights at the Company’s pilot plant in Brazil’s Carajás region – the prolific copper district where Salobo, and all of VBM’s copper assets in Brazil, are located. 

The Company is exploring additional opportunities for CPF technology at its other copper projects in the Carajás and across its portfolio, including further innovative applications at its polymetallic ore bodies.

Strong Copper Project Pipeline

CAPANNORI – Si è trattata di una drammatica fatalità il sinistro che stamani (12 agosto) si è consumato in via delle Ville a Segromigno, costato la vita a un uomo rimasto vittima di un tremendo impatto mentre viaggiava a bordo della sua bicicletta.

A perdere la vita è stato un cittadino dello Sri Lanka di 60 anni, residente poco distante dal luogo del tragico fatto. La ricostruzione della dinamica, su cui hanno lavorato le forze dell’ordine, ha escluso da subito l’eventuale responsabilità di altri automobilisti o mezzi di passaggio: il sessantenne avrebbe infatti perso il controllo della dueruote a causa dello sbilanciamento provocato da diverse ingombranti taniche riempite d’acqua che stava trasportando. La conseguente sbandata lo ha fatto finire violentemente contro un muro d’entrata lungo il ciglio della carreggiata.

I soccorsi medici inviati d’urgenza sul posto non hanno purtroppo potuto che constatare il decesso dell’uomo, provocato dal devastante trauma cranico riportato nell’impatto con la struttura muraria. I rilievi di rito eseguiti dai carabinieri hanno confermato l’autonomia del sinistro, consentendo così la richiesta e l’ottenimento del nullaosta da parte del magistrato di turno per il successivo trasferimento della salma.

Tajani: “All’alba del 12 agosto 1944 circa trecento tedeschi delle SS, con l’aiuto di collaboratori fascisti, salirono a Sant’Anna di Stazzema e compirono una delle più gravi stragi nazifasciste della Seconda Guerra mondiale in Italia. Rastrellarono le borgate casa per casa e uccisero circa 560 persone, tra loro circa 130 bambini. Fu un massacro di vite innocenti, una delle pagine più buie della storia d’Europa. Oggi, in rappresentanza del Governo, ho commemorato ognuna di quelle vittime, per custodire la loro memoria, affinché quell’orrore non si ripeta mai più nel solco della pace e del rispetto della persona umana”.

Il messaggio del presidente della Repubblica Mattarella: “La Repubblica avverte il dovere di ricordare gli innocenti – donne, anziani, bambini – uccisi senza alcuna pietà a Sant’Anna e nelle frazioni di Stazzema, oltraggiando e bruciando i loro corpi, calpestando ogni sentimento di umanità”.

Definendo la strage “Un simbolo dell’abisso in cui le guerre possono precipitare, cancellando la dignità dell’uomo, facendo prevalere l’orrore dell’annientamento”.
Poi il Capo dello Stato: “La comunità di Stazzema, dopo il dolore, è stata capace di ritrovare fiducia, con l’Italia e l’Europa che hanno riscattato con la pace, la libertà, la democrazia, con i diritti eguali e universali, con la progressiva integrazione, quanto di più terribile la storia aveva prodotto. Le guerre sono tornate a gettare la loro ombra sui nostri giorni, ora le volontà di potenza e i propositi di dominio si riaffacciano, manifestandosi in forme anche inedite. Sono più che mai preziose le testimonianze e le coscienze capaci di trasmettere esperienze e valori. Sono capaci di respingere violenza, odio, il disprezzo per il rispetto del pluralismo, dell’identità delle persone. Fare memoria, oltre che atto di responsabilità è atto di liberazione che si rinnova. La vittoria sul nazifascismo aprì la strada della rinascita.
Ciascuna generazione deve sapere che a ognuna appartiene il rafforzamento e la difesa delle conquiste civili, che non sono acquisite una volta per tutte. I loro presupposti etici, le ragioni di impegno, vanno rinnovati e rinsaldati”.

Giani: “Ottanta anni fa nasceva la nostra Costituzione, che come ci ricorda Piero Calamandrei poggia sul dolore di chi patì stragi ed eccidi, sul sacrificio dei partigiani e sull’antifascismo. Anche Sant’Anna di Stazzema dunque è madre della nostra Costituzione: qui, dove con brutalità inaudita furono distrutte 560 vite (394 gli identificati ndr) e tra loro almeno 130 bambini in una tranquilla mattina di agosto”.

Conte: “Con i soldati tedeschi c’erano anche uomini e donne con il volto semicoperto, parlavano italiano, erano i collaborazionisti, i complici fascisti di questa strage. Non fu una rappresaglia militare, fu un’azione terroristica premeditata, un massacro pianificato e attuato nei minimi dettagli”.

“La nostra Costituzione è stata scritta per affermare con chiarezza mai più fascismo. E’ stata scritta con lo scopo di rifondare lo Stato su principi, valori radicalmente antitetici al fascismo: il valore supremo della persona umana, l’uguaglianza formale ma anche sostanziale di tutti i cittadini, il primato del lavoro, la libertà di espressione, di riunione, la partecipazione democratica offerta a tutti. La Costituzione, lo osservò Giuseppe Saragat, è stata concepita, disse, non solo per sanzionare un passato funesto ma anche per affermare la certezza di un avvenire migliore, fondato sul patto solenne tra gli italiani per rispettare la legalità democratica. E allora c’è un connubio indissolubile tra democrazia e antifascismo“.

Conte: “La memoria ritrovata, la memoria viva di quel che è successo in questo luogo ci impone di onorare chi scelse la libertà a prezzo della vita.

Anzi, chi si professa patriota dovrebbe essere qui per onorare la patria. Non possiamo onorare la patria se non onoriamo chi non si è piegato alla dittatura e poi per questo ha sacrificato la propria vita. Chi non si inchina davanti a questo sacrario civile, chi evita di pronunciare parole di verità, non solo continua a ferire un’intera comunità ma finisce per disconoscere i fondamenti stessi della nostra storia repubblicana”.

STAZZEMA – Una folla di cittadini, associazioni e autorità hanno accolto i due leader politici invitati alla commemorazione dell’82esimo anniversario della strage di Sant’Anna di Stazzema.

Entrambi, prima il presidente Giuseppe Conte e dopo il vicepresidente del consiglio dei ministri e ministro degli esteri Antonio Tajani, sono scesi sulla piazza della chiesa di Sant’Anna di Stazzema accolti da tanti giornalisti e cittadini, per poi incamminarsi a piedi per salire a Col di Cava al Sacrario dove si sono svolte le orazioni ufficiali dopo che il generale Andrea Rispoli ha inaugurato la fine dei lavori di manutenzione straordinaria al Monumento Ossario di Sant’Anna di Stazzema.

L’onorevole Conte ha transitato nell’ultima parte della via Crucis per poi incamminarsi sul prato che immette al Sacrario con le incitazioni del pubblico: “Grande Conte, Grande presidente”. Tanti gli applausi ricevuti anche durante il suo discorso, da oratore ufficiale della commemorazione, e dopo gli interventi del sindaco del comune di Stazzema e presidente del Parco nazionale della Pace di Sant’Anna di Stazzema Maurizio Verona, del presidente dell’Associazione Martiri Umberto Mancini, e del presidente della Regione Toscana Eugenio Giani. Ha chiuso, poco prima dell’interpretazione dell’inno d’Italia da parte della voci bianche del coro dei bambini del Festival Puccini di Torre del Lago, il ministro Tajani, che è stato anche protagonista della deposizione di una corona di alloro inviata dalla presidente del consiglio dei ministri, Giorgia Meloni, per la statua sotto il Sacrario che ricorda le 560 vittime trucidate nella strage del 12 agosto 1944.

“Con i soldati tedeschi c’erano anche uomini e donne con il volto semicoperto, parlavano italiano, erano i collaborazionisti, i complici fascisti di questa strage – ha detto Conte – Non fu una rappresaglia militare, fu un’azione terroristica premeditata, un massacro pianificato e attuato nei minimi dettagli. E questa non è solo una valutazione degli storici: questo ormai è un verdetto definitivo delle Corti di giustizia della Repubblica italiana». Dal significato della strage Conte è passato al rapporto tra Resistenza, Costituzione e antifascismo, con un’affermazione particolarmente netta: «La nostra Costituzione è stata scritta per affermare con chiarezza: mai più fascismo». E ha aggiunto: «È stata scritta con lo scopo di rifondare lo Stato su principi, valori radicalmente antitetici al fascismo: il valore supremo della persona umana, l’uguaglianza formale ma anche sostanziale di tutti i cittadini, il primato del lavoro, la libertà di espressione, di riunione, la partecipazione democratica offerta a tutti”. Da qui il richiamo al ‘connubio indissolubile tra democrazia e antifascismo‘: “La nostra Costituzione era, è e sarà sempre antifascista e democratica e, in maniera pressoché corrispondente, il fascismo è stato nella sua dimensione costitutiva e attuativa antidemocratico. Costituzione e fascismo costituiscono quindi due polarità antitetiche”

Conte ha poi raccolto direttamente l’appello lanciato dal sindaco Maurizio Verona sulla proposta di legge di iniziativa popolare contro i simboli e i gadget nazifascisti: “Anche io, per quanto mi compete, dall’opposizione, per la mia parte politica, spingeremo perché si apra una discussione in commissione giustizia su questa proposta di iniziativa popolare volta a bandire simboli e gadget nazifascisti”. E subito dopo ha rivolto un messaggio politico più ampio, legando la memoria di Sant’Anna al tema del patriottismo: “Le seduzioni democratiche vanno oggi sempre difese, protette. Non bastano gesti formali o parole di circostanza. La memoria ritrovata, la memoria viva di quel che è successo in questo luogo, ci impone di onorare chi scelse la libertà a prezzo della vita. Anzi, chi si professa patriota dovrebbe essere qui per onorare la patria. Vedete, perché non possiamo onorare la patria se non onoriamo chi non si è piegato alla dittatura e poi per questo ha sacrificato la propria vita». E ancora: «Chi non si inchina davanti a questo sacrario civile, chi evita di pronunciare parole di verità, non solo continua a ferire un’intera comunità, ma finisce per disconoscere i fondamenti stessi della nostra storia repubblicana”

Nella parte finale dell’orazione, il riferimento alla Costituzione si è spostato dalla memoria del passato ai conflitti e alle violazioni dei diritti nel presente. Conte ha parlato della pace come principio costituzionale, affermando che “la pace non significa solo ripudio della guerra come strumento di offesa della dignità e della libertà di altri popoli. La pace impone il primato della politica, della diplomazia. Implica una specifica proiezione internazionale dell’Italia che, in forza della sua natura di Paese democratico, deve costantemente tendere alla collaborazione con gli altri Stati e deve sempre rispettare il diritto internazionale”. E quindi il passaggio su Gaza, tra i più duri dell’intervento: “La pace richiede coraggio ed è l’opposto dell’ignavia. Non è compatibile con il silenzio complice e spinge a condannare, ad esempio, con la più risoluta fermezza, l’orrore di Gaza, con oltre 20mila bambini inermi sterminati dall’esercito israeliano equipaggiato con le più sofisticate tecnologie”

Il tema della pace è stato infine ricondotto da Conte al principio dei diritti inviolabili e alla responsabilità della politica: “Non dobbiamo avere paura di dire che le politiche dell’odio, del rancore e della discriminazione sono un attacco frontale alla Costituzione repubblicana, che riconosce la dignità inviolabile di ogni essere umano». E ha concluso richiamando ancora una volta il valore di Sant’Anna come luogo non soltanto della memoria, ma dell’impegno civile: «La difesa della Costituzione non è uno sguardo che si attarda sul passato, è un’energia sul futuro che si propaga sul futuro. Qui a Sant’Anna di Stazzema, in questo sacrario laico, ogni cittadino che si riconosce nei valori repubblicani rinnova il proprio giuramento alla Costituzione. È un atto di memoria, ma anche un atto di responsabilità: conservare la verità, proteggere la democrazia, onorare chi ha dato la vita per questi principi”.

Il passaggio più netto arriva fin dalle prime battute, quando Tajani chiarisce la natura della strage e individua senza ambiguità le responsabilità: “Quello commesso dalle truppe della Germania nazista che occupavano e opprimevano il nostro paese è un crimine deliberato, commesso con l’aiuto di fascisti italiani. Un crimine che non trova nessuna giustificazione, né quella della tragica fatalità, né quella delle dure leggi della guerra”. Un’affermazione che il ministro lega direttamente alla responsabilità delle istituzioni e alla necessità di andare oltre la semplice commemorazione: “Non basta dire “mai più”, occorre agire concretamente per garantire che tutto questo non si ripeta”.

Tajani è tornato poi sul ruolo avuto dagli italiani nella guerra di Liberazione e sulla necessità di ricordare chi combatté per la libertà, contrapponendolo a chi scelse invece di collaborare con gli occupanti nazisti. Il ministro ha ricordato le diverse componenti della Resistenza e delle forze italiane che combatterono contro il nazifascismo, sottolineando come seppero “mettere da parte le divergenze per un grande obiettivo comune: la libertà della Patria”. Ma il passaggio più esplicito sulle responsabilità italiane è arrivato nel ricordo delle altre stragi avvenute in Toscana: “Potrei continuare purtroppo a lungo, parlando di stragi commesse non soltanto da truppe tedesche ma purtroppo anche da italiani, da reparti della Repubblica Sociale che si dedicarono con altrettanta ferocia all’opera di repressione”.
Da qui il ministro ha allargato il ragionamento al presente, mettendo in guardia dai rischi che possono mettere in discussione i valori democratici conquistati dopo la guerra: “Anche per questo è preziosa la libertà che le nostre istituzioni democratiche sono chiamate a tutelare e garantire, di fronte ai pericoli vecchi e nuovi. Il nazismo e il fascismo sono tragedie del passato, che non ritorneranno in quelle forme, ma l’Europa e il mondo sono attraversati proprio in questi anni dallo stesso spettro dell’intolleranza, dell’estremismo, della falsificazione ideologica». Tajani ha quindi richiamato i conflitti, i regimi autoritari e la disinformazione, sottolineando che «La libertà, la democrazia, la pace che abbiamo vissuto per 80 anni, grazie alla nascita dell’Unione Europea voluta da grandi visionari come De Gasperi, Adenauer, Schuman, Spinelli e Martino, non sono beni acquisiti per sempre”.

In conclusione, Tajani ha riportato il significato della giornata alla responsabilità collettiva nei confronti delle vittime di Sant’Anna e delle generazioni future: “Le vittime di Sant’Anna non hanno avuto davvero giustizia, se non la giustizia simbolica verso pochi fra i responsabili, giunti ormai al termine della loro vita». Ma, ha aggiunto, «la giustizia per queste vittime non la possono fare solo i tribunali, la farà la storia se il loro martirio non sarà stato vano, se servirà a indurci a riflettere sulla follia del totalitarismo e a capire come possa essere anche oggi dietro l’angolo”. Il ministro ha quindi ricordato che nessuna società può considerarsi immune dall’orrore: “Una grande nazione come la Germania, una delle nazioni più colte, più progredite e più raffinate del mondo, ha visto crescere nel proprio seno il più orrendo fra i sistemi criminali della storia contemporanea. Ha visto pianificare crimini come Auschwitz. Questo significa che nessuno è immune dalla follia, dall’orrore, dalla violenza”. E ha chiuso con l’impegno del governo: “Io sono qui dunque per ribadire in modo solenne che questo governo, e tutte le Istituzioni della Repubblica, continueranno a fare tutto il necessario perché il sacrificio dei martiri di Sant’Anna non sia dimenticato, ma soprattutto perché non sia stato vano“.

Maurizio Verona, sindaco del Comune di Stazzema, ha detto: “Sant’Anna di Stazzema è stato un crimine. È stato un crimine ciò che è accaduto e dopodiché ci sono stati decenni bui, perché è calato su questa strage un oblio di Stato, sono calati decenni di silenzio, sono calate verità nascoste. E questo ha fatto sì che si creasse un danno verso quelle generazioni che crescevano in quegli anni, un danno perché è cresciuta una storia di ambiguità. Qualcuno raccontava che qua non ci fosse stato un crimine pianificato, che ci fosse stato qualcosa di diverso. Invece qua a Sant’Anna di Stazzema i fascisti locali, con il passamontagna sul viso, hanno accompagnato i nazisti e hanno ucciso deliberatamente donne, bambini e anziani. Non era guerra quella. Quello era un crimine, un crimine che è stato taciuto per decenni”

Verona ha poi ricordato come la verità giudiziaria sia arrivata soltanto 63 anni dopo la strage, con il processo che ha portato alla condanna dei responsabili, ringraziando in particolare il procuratore militare Marco De Paolis. Ma il sindaco ha sottolineato anche le conseguenze di quel lungo silenzio sui superstiti: “I nostri superstiti non parlavano, non raccontavano ciò che avevano vissuto quel giorno. Vedevano uno Stato silente che non parlava e quindi avevano paura a raccontare ciò che avevano visto. Non sapevano se lo dovevano fare, o se non lo dovevano fare. Soltanto dopo che sono iniziati i processi hanno iniziato a raccontare”.

Da qui l’appello al governo e alle istituzioni, con il significato attribuito alla presenza del ministro Antonio Tajani alla cerimonia: “Io tutti gli anni mi sforzo ad avere un rappresentante del governo qua in questo luogo, perché credo che il governo e lo Stato debbano rimediare a quegli anni di silenzio, di mancata attenzione a questi luoghi. E quindi la presenza il 12 agosto qui è significativa. Non per il sindaco: è significativa per i superstiti, è significativa per coloro che hanno perso la vita in questo luogo, che hanno perso la vita ingiustamente”.

Un passaggio particolarmente netto è stato dedicato alla proposta di legge di iniziativa popolare contro la propaganda e la diffusione dei simboli del fascismo, promossa proprio da Sant’Anna e sostenuta da oltre 250mila firme: “Questa legge è insabbiata. Noi l’abbiamo presentata nel 2022, ha fatto qualche centimetro, è arrivata in commissione, poi si è interrotta la legislatura. In questa legislatura ha preso il numero della legge, numero 4. Questa legge è bloccata in commissione giustizia”

Rivolgendosi direttamente al ministro Tajani, Verona ha quindi lanciato un appello: “Lei è più autorevole di me e magari ha più occasione di vedere Ciro Maschio, presidente di quella commissione. Lo inviti. Questo non fa un favore a me, a portare la legge in discussione in commissione: fa un favore alle 250mila firme dei cittadini che hanno sottoscritto quella legge e vogliono che venga scritta una pagina di storia. Io mi sento umiliato come cittadino, mi sento umiliato come presidente del comitato promotore della legge, mi sento umiliato anche come sindaco di una città medaglia d’oro al valore militare, perché credo che una legge di iniziativa popolare può essere approvata, respinta, modificata, però io ho la convinzione che in una democrazia non può essere lasciata a prendere polvere in un cassetto”

Il sindaco ha infine ribadito il significato che oggi Sant’Anna vuole assumere ben oltre la commemorazione della strage: “Sant’Anna non è soltanto un luogo di commemorazione. Sant’Anna è un luogo dove noi stiamo portando avanti delle politiche. Qui Sant’Anna oggi è la capitale dell’antifascismo”. E ha concluso con una frase che sintetizza il senso dell’intera giornata: “Sant’Anna non chiede privilegi. Ha chiesto per decenni verità, ha chiesto per decenni giustizia. È arrivata tardi, ma è arrivata. La verità e la giustizia. Oggi chiede il rispetto. Qui non si costruisce soltanto il ricordo di una strage: qui si costruisce una parte essenziale della coscienza democratica dell’Italia e dell’Europa. Per questo la memoria di Sant’Anna non può appartenere soltanto al passato: ci interroga sul presente e ci chiama ancora oggi a una responsabilità precisa. A Sant’Anna la memoria non è un rito, è una responsabilità”.

Dopo Marzabotto in Emilia Romagna fu il più grande eccidio nazifascista: uno dei più efferati di quegli anni. “Da qui – prosegue Giani – deve dunque partire un grido forte per la pace, contro le dittatura e contro i focolai di guerra che ancora attraversano il mondo di oggi”.

“Da Sant’Anna vogliamo lanciare un messaggio di cultura di pace che parte dalle persone” ricorda Mia Diop, vice presidente della Toscana, che oggi, dopo la commemorazione, ha inaugurato la tradizionale mostra con disegni dei bambini organizzata a Sant’Anna da Colours for peace, che quest’anno si arricchisce di un nuovo percorso di educazione alla pace destinato all’Asia meridionale e finanziato dal Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale. “I bambini – dice – ci lanciano un messaggio importante, per tutelare noi e il loro futuro”.

L’assassino Rassoul Bissoultanov, condannato per omicidio in Spagna e in Italia, dopo essere stato estradato dalla Germania è stato scarcerato in Italia dalla Corte di Assise di Roma nel dicembre 2021 in accoglimento di un’istanza presentata dalla difesa.

La Cassazione ha poi annullato la revoca della custodia in carcere a Rebibbia di Bissoultanov.

Ma Bissoultanov, dopo essere tornato in Spagna, è ancora latitante.

Niccolò Ciatti avrebbe compiuto 31 anni il 24 luglio scorso.

The campaign’s hero film follows a family stepping away from the mental load of everyday life for one evening. The film captures small but meaningful moments crowded out by everyday demands, from spontaneous conversations and shared meals to the simple pleasure of being fully present. 

With this story, LG invites people to consider a simple question: what might you make room for if you could set your mental load down, even for just one evening? 

The campaign’s message comes to life through product-focused films featuring LG WashTower, LG Styler, LG OLED and LG DUALCOOL. The films show how LG products can help reduce everyday mental load by quietly taking care of routine demands, freeing up people’s minds to enjoy life’s meaningful moments. 

As part of the campaign, LG also offers an interactive experience designed to help people better understand their own mental load. By answering a set of questions, people can reflect on how much mental load they carry and what contributes to it. By making an invisible burden more visible, LG hopes people will free up their minds to experience Life’s Good.

The Scale of the Problem 

Survey findings show that, on average, people experience 27 mental load interruptions during their waking hours.

The Human Cost 

More than half (51%) of respondents said mental load stops them from sleeping well, while nearly half (49%) said it impacts their physical health. 

The findings also revealed a key human truth: people work hard to stay organized, yet what they miss most is the freedom to be spontaneous. When asked what they would do if that weight were lifted, people did not reach for greater productivity or achievement. Instead, they spoke about getting lost in a book, spending unplanned time with loved ones and enjoying moments free from everyday responsibilities.  

The Role of Technology 

The study found that unpaid responsibilities at home contribute more to mental load than paid work, highlighting the opportunity for household technology to make a meaningful difference. 

Nearly three in four (73%) of respondents believe the right household technology could help reduce their mental load, with the strongest demand for solutions that proactively handle routine tasks without requiring constant attention.

The study, “Large-scale bilateral cardiovascular monitoring via wearable rings,” analyzes 97,559 valid ring-PPG samples from 1,810 participants, providing new insights into bilateral wearable sensing for cardiovascular monitoring. 

NEW YORK, Aug. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — A major step toward overcoming long-standing accuracy bottlenecks in consumer wearables, a joint research team from Ninenovo (parent company of RingConn), Professor Cheng Chen’s team at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Mianyang Central Hospital has published a new study in npj Digital Medicine, a Nature Portfolio journal, establishing what the researchers describe as the first large-scale bilateral ring-PPG benchmark. The study comprised 97,559 valid PPG samples from 1,810 participants, 7,478 paired blood pressure measurements, and found that combining synchronized PPG signals from both hands can substantially improve heart rate estimation, while also revealing important limitations in bilateral wearable approaches to blood pressure estimation and highlighting bilateral signal differences as a potential indicator of measurement reliability. 

Cardiovascular disease remains one of the world’s leading causes of death, making continuous and accessible cardiovascular monitoring an increasingly important area of health research. Photoplethysmography (PPG), a non-invasive optical sensing technology, has become a cornerstone of consumer wearables such as smartwatches and smart rings, enabling physiological signals to be captured continuously in everyday life. Yet most wearable PPG systems rely on measurements from a single location, typically one hand or one finger, implicitly assuming that signals collected from the left and right sides of the body are sufficiently consistent to be interchangeable. Whether this assumption holds true, however, has rarely been systematically investigated. This question became the starting point for a collaborative research effort involving academic, clinical, and industry partners to explore cardiovascular monitoring through bilateral ring-based PPG. 

Analyzing 97,559 valid PPG samples, the study demonstrated that bilateral signals dramatically enhance measurement reliability. Synchronized dual-hand tracking reduced heart rate means absolute error (MAE) from 10.65 bpm (population baseline) down to 3.21 bpm, and further to 2.59 bpm when signal differences remained below defined thresholds. Furthermore, these performance gains proved consistent across 12 distinct AI model architectures. While blood pressure estimation improvements were more modest (systolic MAE improved from 13.81 to 12.36 mmHg; diastolic from 9.27 to 8.21 mmHg), the findings confirm that signal consistency and sensor placement are just as critical as raw data volume.
