The WinGrip® A1X™ vacuum anchor represents the latest evolution of MSA’s proven AIO (All-In-One) WinGrip® system, delivering a lighter, more compact solution that meets the demands of modern aviation maintenance operations. 

Engineered for the way maintenance teams work 

The A1X vacuum anchor creates a secure, non-invasive anchor point on aircraft wing surfaces using vacuum suction technology, designed to enable maintenance technicians to work safely on wings and fuselages without causing damage to the aircraft. The A1X vacuum anchor is powered by refillable air or gas supplied cylinders that create the suction for the anchor points to use. 

Developed in close collaboration with customers and shaped by real-world feedback from maintenance crews, the A1X vacuum anchor is purpose-built to remove the practical barriers that can prevent teams from deploying fall protection equipment in the field. 

At just 7kg – 35% lighter than its predecessor – and with a reduced diameter of 350 mm (down from 480 mm), the A1X vacuum anchor is more portable and easier to handle than previous generations. The redesigned pneumatic system doubles the number of anchor repositions achievable from a single cylinder, reducing the need to carry spare cylinders and streamlining the workflow for technicians operating under time-sensitive conditions. 

Broader aircraft compatibility 

One of the most important advances of the A1X vacuum anchor is its expanded compatibility. The reduced pad diameter means the A1X vacuum anchor can now be used on smaller aircraft that were previously outside the scope of WinGrip technology, including business jets, private aviation and commercial airliners. The A1X vacuum anchor is approved for use by all major aircraft manufacturers, including Airbus and Boeing, giving maintenance teams the confidence to deploy it as part of their standard procedures. 

Designed for every environment 

The A1X vacuum anchor is deliberately designed to operate without electronics, allowing it to be used safely in environments where fuel vapours may be present, such as during refuelling operations, and with no electrical components, the A1X vacuum anchor creates no ignition risk. An integrated audio alarm system provides real-time status feedback, and the unit can maintain its seal even in the event of flow interruption. 

Fully self-contained within its dedicated air cylinder, the A1X vacuum anchor requires no external air supply or fixed infrastructure, making it equally effective in a maintenance hangar, on the apron, or at a remote location. It is designed to perform reliably across a wide range of environmental conditions, from high-altitude facilities to hot and cold climates. 

Purpose-built for A & B checks 

The WinGrip A1X vacuum anchor is optimised for line maintenance and airline-industry standardized A & B check operations. During A & B check operations, where speed and flexibility are paramount, the A1X vacuum anchor portability means a single technician can deploy and reposition one of the two anchor points independently, without the need for overhead lifeline infrastructure or additional crew. For larger C & D check operations requiring multiple workers on the wing simultaneously, MSA’s full lifeline WinGrip systems remain available.

ST1 launched on August 9, 2026, and arrived in Japan 13 days later. L’incontro ha riunito registi e direttori della fotografia emergenti per esplorare una domanda a cui il settore ha appena iniziato a rispondere: quando una cinepresa entra nel palmo della mano, in che modo cambia la Lingua stessa del cinema? 

Da Cannes a Venezia: Una visione unificata 

La sessione del Venice Production Bridge ha proseguito il percorso creativo iniziato quest’anno da Osmo Pocket Series. Dopo la presentazione globale a Cannes a maggio, DJI ha affidato Osmo Pocket 4P a due tra le voci visive più distintive del cinema, ognuna al lavoro in modo indipendente su continenti diversi. I risultati hanno rivelato una notevole convergenza. 

In “FAMILIARITÉ”, l’attrice Isabelle Huppert, premiata a Cannes e Venezia, è protagonista e regista creativa di un’originale meditazione sulla letteratura e la memoria, girata interamente con Osmo Pocket 4P. Allo stesso tempo, l’acclamato direttore della fotografia giapponese Mikiya Takimoto ha ideato e diretto “Looking for Her”, un racconto in stile road movie ambientato in una storica città mineraria d’argento che segue una silenziosa ricerca di connessioni umane, girato anch’esso interamente con Osmo Pocket 4P. Proiettare il futuro: Dalla teoria alla pratica 

La sessione è strutturata come un autentico dialogo nel settore, basato interamente sulla pratica cinematografica piuttosto che sulla dimostrazione del prodotto. Quattro cortometraggi realizzati da un gruppo internazionale di direttori della fotografia emergenti sono stati proiettati: Gabriele Mencaroni e Alessandro Tempestini (Italia), Liu Yadi (Cina/Francia) e Zhou Chengzhou (Cina/Paesi Bassi). Il loro lavoro collettivo spaziava dal cinema sperimentale alla produzione commerciale fino ai documentari riconosciuti nei festival, una diversità che riflette una generazione che opera oltre i tradizionali confini creativi. 

Dopo la proiezione e una dimostrazione di riprese dal vivo, tre direttori della fotografia di fama internazionale hanno fornito un rigoroso feedback professionale: Valentin Vignet, direttore della fotografia francese noto per il suo lavoro su Faces Places e sul cortometraggio candidato all’Oscar Nefta Football Club; Cristiano Di Nicola, direttore della fotografia italiano pluripremiato presente a Venezia con “L’Estranea” in Concorso Ufficiale; e Michele D’Attanasio, due volte vincitore del David di Donatello, noto per film come Veloce come il vento, Freaks Out e L’ombra di Caravaggio. Tutti e tre, forti di esperienza nella gestione di produzioni su larga scala, hanno valutato il racconto visivo dei giovani registi in base agli standard inflessibili del cinema professionale, dimostrando che la sofisticazione tecnica del lavoro era all’altezza – e non a discapito – dei parametri tradizionali della cinematografia. 

La tavola rotonda: Discussione sul settore sulla ridefinizione del cinema 

Il fulcro è stata una tavola rotonda: “In che modo una nuova generazione sta ridefinendo il cinema?” La conversazione ha intrecciato le prospettive distintive di direttori della fotografia affermati e registi emergenti, esplorando in modo naturale quattro fondamentali dimensioni: come gli strumenti compatti e stabilizzati su gimbal ridefiniscono il rapporto tra la camera, l’interprete e l’ambiente; se apparecchiature più leggere e flessibili democratizzino la produzione cinematografica professionale pur richiedendo una maggiore disciplina visiva; come i flussi di lavoro di produzione e le dinamiche sul set si trasformino con configurazioni leggere; e, in definitiva, se uno strumento possa davvero cambiare il linguaggio cinematografico stesso o se l’idea visiva debba sempre venire prima. 

Valentin Vignet ha riflettuto sul cambiamento psicologico quando l’imponente attrezzatura della macchina da presa scompare dal set: l’attore non deve più adattarsi all’apparecchiatura e la videocamera diventa un testimone piuttosto che un ostacolo. “La cosa che mi ha colpito di più di questi quattro cortometraggi è che nessuno dei registi ha dovuto scendere a compromessi sulla qualità per utilizzare una videocamera più leggera”, ha dichiarato Cristiano Di Nicola. “Ci sono state così tante inquadrature che prima non avrei mai pensato fossero possibili, e questo perché l’Osmo Pocket 4P ti libera come cineasta. AHMEDABAD, India, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) and one of India’s largest private airport operators, has entered into binding agreements to raise ₹9,825 crore (~USD 1 billion) of primary equity capital from a consortium of investors comprising Alpha Wave Global, Premji Invest, Temasek and BlackRock managed funds. The transaction values AAHL at a pre-money equity valuation of ~USD 18 billion and represents one of the largest primary equity investments from financial institutions in India’s airport infrastructure sector. 

The participation of a consortium of long-term domestic and global investors represents a significant institutional endorsement of AAHL’s scale, operating capabilities and long-term growth potential. The investment brings long-duration institutional capital into the business at a time when India’s aviation sector is entering a sustained phase of passenger growth, capacity expansion and infrastructure investment. 

AAHL and the investors have entered into a Share Subscription Agreement and a Shareholders’ Agreement pursuant to which the investors will subscribe to new equity shares of AAHL in three tranches, with the final tranche expected to be completed by July 2027. Upon completion of all three tranches, the investors will collectively hold approximately 5.54% in AAHL. 

The proceeds will support three strategic priorities: expanding and modernising airport infrastructure across AAHL’s portfolio; accelerating the development of integrated Adani Airport City ecosystems around its airports with development of ~ 22 million sq. ft. of mixed-use development planned in the first phase; and scaling passenger-facing and other non-aeronautical businesses including our ground handling business. These investments are expected to increase capacity to serve ~ 200 million passengers annually, deepen commercial monetisation, enhance passenger experience and further strengthen AAHL’s integrated airport ecosystem. 

The transaction follows AEL’s successful ₹15,000 crore qualified institutional placement (QIP) in July 2026, India’s largest QIP by a non-financial corporate. Together, the transactions reflect continued access by the Adani portfolio to significant pools of long-term domestic and global institutional capital.

Poi, da sabato 19 settembre, la Biennale aprirà le sue porte a tutti per quasi tre mesi di mostre in 11 sedi a Lione e nella sua area metropolitana, fino al 13 dicembre 2026. 

17 E 18 SETTEMBRE: DUE GIORNATE DEDICATE AI PROFESSIONISTI DELL’ARTE CONTEMPORANEA 

Prima della sua apertura al pubblico, la Biennale di Lione invita la comunità artistica francese e internazionale a due giornate di anteprima professionale che offrono un primo sguardo esclusivo alla sua 18a edizione. 

Artisti, curatori, galleristi, direttori di musei e centri d’arte, collezionisti e professionisti che lavorano nelle istituzioni culturali, nella produzione, nella mediazione, nella comunicazione e nella ricerca sono invitati a unirsi a noi a Lione il 17 e 18 settembre.

DAL 19 SETTEMBRE, LA BIENNALE APRIRÀ LE SUE PORTE A TUTTI 

Da sabato 19 settembre a domenica 13 dicembre 2026, la 18a Biennale d’arte contemporanea di Lione invita il pubblico a scoprire una nuova mappa artistica di Lione e della sua area metropolitana. 

Intitolata “Passer d’un rêve à l’autre / Passare da un sogno all’altro”, questa 18a edizione è sotto la direzione artistica di Isabelle Bertolotti e curata da Catherine Nichols. 

Ispirata ai traboules di Lione, passaggi che attraversano cortili ed edifici collegando uno spazio all’altro, la Biennale esplora i modi in cui possiamo passare da una modalità di percezione ad un’altra e, forse, da un sogno collettivo ad un altro. 

Attingendo alla storia di Lione come città di commercio, produzione, circolazione e scambio, questa edizione esamina le economie che organizzano la nostra vita: i modi in cui gli esseri umani e più che umani acquisiscono, trasformano, condividono e fanno circolare le risorse materiali e immateriali che consentono loro di vivere. 

11 LUOGHI PER CONOSCERE LA CITTÀ IN MODO DIFFERENTE 

Con 120 artisti e 11 sedi espositive, la Biennale di quest’anno si estende ben oltre il tradizionale itinerario museale. Le istituzioni culturali, i siti di interesse storico-culturale, gli ex spazi industriali, gli spazi pubblici e i luoghi di transito costituiscono una geografia da scoprire in tutta la città e nell’area metropolitana: 

Tre luoghi costituiscono i principali punti di riferimento di questa edizione: Les Grandes Locos, macLYON e il Musée des Tissus et des Arts décoratifs. 

A Les Grandes Locos, le dimensioni industriali del sito richiamano tematiche legate alla produzione, alla trasformazione, all’estrazione e alla circolazione. A macLYON, la mostra esplora più da vicino le condizioni di esistenza, vita e morte, eredità e debito. Al Musée des Tissus, le opere esaminano forme di relazione, cura e scambio. 

Intorno a questi tre principali centri, la Biennale si diffonde in tutta la città, abitando le istituzioni artistiche, i siti di interesse storico-culturale e gli spazi quotidiani.

Per quasi tre mesi, la Biennale invita il pubblico a vedere Lione in modo diverso.

LONDON, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — On 15 September this year, the 46th World Chess Olympiad will start at the Silk Road international tourism centre in Samarkand. In the history of the prestigious competition, held since 1927, Central Asia will host the chess world’s largest team tournament for the first time. 

A total of 398 teams will compete: 208 in the men’s (Open) section and 190 in the women’s section. This will break the record of 380 teams set in Budapest in 2024. The competition will consist of 11 rounds and run until 27 September. 

From 10 to 18 September, Samarkand will also host the 3rd Chess Paralympiad. 41 teams will take part — the highest figure in its history. 

Held in historic Samarkand, a city on the UNESCO World Heritage List and one of the key crossroads of the Great Silk Road, the competition combines sport with a platform for cultural diplomacy and international dialogue. 

According to the teams’ average rating, the United States is seeded first in the men’s (Open) section. Reigning champion India is seeded second, and Uzbekistan third. 

The Uzbekistan line-ups reflect the emergence of a new generation of Uzbek chess. In particular, Nilufarkhon Imomkuziyeva and Khumoyun Begmurodov, both aged 16, will make their Olympiad debut. 

In the Uzbekistan men’s team, Javokhir Sindarov (4th), Nodirbek Abdusattorov (7th), Nodirbek Yakubboev (39th) and Shamsiddin Vokhidov (61st) are among the world’s 100 strongest players. That Sindarov and Abdusattorov are among the world’s ten strongest clearly demonstrates the competitiveness of the Uzbek chess school. 

Compared with 2025, the Uzbekistan men’s team has risen 15 places in the FIDE ranking among 204 countries to sixth. The women’s team has risen 17 places to 21st. 

Alongside the Olympiad, the 97th FIDE Congress will take place in Samarkand from 19 to 28 September. It will also include the FIDE presidential election. 

The Olympiad will be another important stage for Uzbekistan’s Javokhir Sindarov. Eight weeks after the Olympiad ends, he will face reigning world champion Gukesh Dommaraju for the world chess crown. Both will be 20 at the start of the match, scheduled for Geneva from 22 November to 13 December. 

Hosting the 46th World Chess Olympiad, the 3rd Chess Paralympiad and the FIDE Congress simultaneously demonstrates Uzbekistan’s capacity to organise major international sporting and intellectual events at a high level.

The report makes the case that direct current (DC) technology is moving from the periphery to the center of industrial, commercial, and digital infrastructure – and that the decisions made by business leaders and policymakers in the next two to three years will determine who shapes that transition and who inherits it. 

The future of power distribution is not an either-or choice between alternating current (AC) and direct current, but a hybrid system that combines the strengths of both technologies. While AC will remain the backbone of most transmission and regional distribution networks, DC is expected to play an increasingly important role within facilities where many major energy sources and loads already operate natively on direct current. The fastest-growing technologies, including solar photovoltaic systems, batteries, electric vehicles, AI data centers and many industrial automation systems, are inherently DC-based. As these technologies scale, reducing the number of power conversion steps between generation, storage and consumption can improve efficiency, increase the usable capacity of an existing grid connection and simplify integration. 

The report identifies AI data centers as one of the most immediate drivers of DC adoption. As AI workloads continue to increase power density requirements, conventional electrical architectures are reaching practical limits. The report finds that 800 VDC distribution is emerging as the defining architecture for next-generation AI infrastructure, enabling operators to maximize compute capacity within constrained grid connections while improving energy efficiency. 

At the same time, the shift is also relevant for a range of other key industries with the research highlighting several opportunities beyond data centers. Automation-intensive manufacturing facilities, commercial buildings and, over the longer term, buildings can also benefit from DC systems or subsystems through lower conversion losses, more effective integration of onsite renewables and storage, and enhanced operational flexibility.

Through optimization of its high-power SiC MOSFET process, DB HiTek has achieved competitive electrical characteristics and a high level of reliability. The company has established the world’s first complete 1,200 V 8-inch SiC foundry process flow, creating a foundry service platform capable of supporting customers across design, manufacturing, electrical characterization and reliability qualification. 

To support the commercial rollout of its 8-inch SiC foundry business, DB HiTek is providing customers with Process Design Kits (PDKs) for its proprietary first-and second-generation 1,200 V SiC MOSFET processes. A third-generation PDK is scheduled for release this November. By using these PDKs, customers can reduce the resources required during the initial stages of development, accelerate prototype fabrication and shorten product development time by more than a year. 

The second-generation process covered by the PDK achieves a specific on-resistance (Rsp) of 2.5 mΩ•cm² or less and a threshold voltage (Vth) of 3 V or higher at an on-state gate voltage (Vgs(on)) of 18 V. It has also completed reliability qualification, a demanding stage of process development. 

The third-generation process, scheduled for release in November, is being qualified with the goal of achieving a specific on-resistance of 2.3 mΩ•cm² or less at the same on-state gate voltage of 18 V, together with a short-circuit withstand time (SCWT) of at least 2.5 μs in the short-circuit safe operating area (SCSOA). Once qualification is complete, DB HiTek plans to make the third-generation PDK available to customers. 

DB HiTek plans to complete process preparations and provide access to longstanding customers in the third quarter of this year. The company plans to make the service available to all customers beginning in the second quarter of 2027.

Collaboration with AAV-specialist CDMO will support scalable production of EPY201 for focal refractory epilepsy affecting 10 million people 

LONDON and SAN SEBASTIÁN, Spain, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — EpilepsyGTx, a biotechnology company developing gene therapies for refractory epilepsy, and Viralgen, a leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) specialising in recombinant adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapies, today announced a partnership to support production of EpilepsyGTx’s lead investigational gene therapy programme targeting patients with focal refractory epilepsy (FRE), EPY201, ahead of first-in-human clinical trials. 

As part of the collaboration, Viralgen will use its proprietary Aava™ manufacturing platform to provide a reliable, efficient solution for production of EPY201. The platform enables high-yield, scalable manufacturing across AAV serotypes, and has already supported the production of 1,500 AAV batches. 

Focal epilepsy describes a group of disorders in which seizures arise from a specific part of the brain. When seizures persist following trials of at least two tolerated and appropriately chosen antiseizure medications, epilepsy is deemed refractory, or pharmacoresistant. FRE affects approximately 10 million patients worldwide1, including two million patients in the US, UK, and EU. 

EPY201 is designed to be delivered directly into the seizure focus, with the aim of reducing neuronal hyperexcitability locally while limiting exposure beyond the target region in the brain. If successful, this approach will offer patients a single, minimally invasive option that does not require resection or ablation of brain tissue, offering patients with FRE the prospect of seizure freedom.
