SOVICILLE – Un pomeriggio di grande mobilitazione sul fronte dell’antincendio boschivo, partito con la massima allerta nel senese e conclusosi con il contenimento del rogo, mentre in altre province – compresa quella di Lucca – sono proseguite le operazioni di bonifica e messa in sicurezza del territorio.

L’allarme principale è scattato intorno alle 14 nella zona di Bagnaia, nel comune di Sovicille, in provincia di Siena. Le fiamme, alimentate e sospinte dal vento, si sono propagate rapidamente all’interno di un fitto bosco di querce caratterizzato da un denso sottobosco di ginepro. Data la potenziale pericolosità del fronte, la sala operativa provinciale ha disposto l’invio immediato di oltre dieci squadre di volontari dell’antincendio boschivo, supportate dall’alto da due elicotteri della flotta regionale e coordinate da un direttore delle operazioni. A rendere più complesse le prime fasi dell’intervento è stata la presenza nell’area di alcune linee elettriche, per le quali è stata valutata la disattivazione temporanea così da garantire l’incolumità del personale a terra. Fortunatamente, nessuna abitazione è rimasta minacciata dal fuoco.

Dopo ore di faticoso lavoro, il dispiegamento coordinato tra le squadre a terra e i continui sganci d’acqua degli elicotteri ha dato i suoi frutti, portando allo spegnimento del rogo. I soccorritori hanno avviato subito le operazioni di bonifica realizzando, tramite attrezzature manuali, delle staccate larghe circa un metro: una fascia di sicurezza necessaria per separare la superficie bruciata dalla vegetazione rimasta intatta, evitando così l’insorgere di pericolosi nuovi focolai. Per tutta la serata sono stati programmati i cambi del personale in modo da assicurare una costante sorveglianza notturna dell’area.

La giornata sul fronte degli incendi ha registrato criticità anche nel resto della Toscana, con nuovi principi di incendio boschivo in Casentino e nel Pisano, che al momento non destano comunque preoccupazione. In provincia di Lucca, invece, l’attenzione è rimasta alta in Versilia: per tutta la mattinata sono proseguite le complesse operazioni di messa in sicurezza sul costone della montagna di Malbacco, nel comune di Seravezza. Qui, grazie al lavoro aereo garantito da due elicotteri regionali, è stata bonificata la zona impervia dove il fuoco ha mandato in fumo circa due ettari di vegetazione rada.

New Video Case Study Showcases How Advanced Drone Technology is Making Mountaineering Safer 

SHENZHEN, China, July 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — DJI, the global leader in civilian drones and creative camera technology, today released new long surveying footage of the Khumbu Icefall on Mount Everest (Mount Qomolangma). Presented as a video case study, Nepalese drone company Airlift Technology showcases their aerial surveying operations at altitudes above 6,000 meters and temperatures below -20°C. The workflow included three components: aerial data collection with a DJI Matrice 4E, 3D model generation with DJI Terra, and day-by-day comparative analysis. With these high-precision 3D models, icefall doctors knew the locations of every crevasse, surface displacement, and serac between Base Camp and Camp 1 – before ever stepping onto the ice. 

“With DJI drone technology, we can create a 3D model of the Khumbu Icefall that helps the Sherpas and icefall doctors locate crevasses and plan the route — without climbing the icefall first,” said Raj Bikram Maharjan, CEO of Airlift Technology. “To our knowledge, this is the first deployment of its kind in Nepal, and potentially one of the first real-world operational uses globally at this scale in a high-altitude expedition environment.” 

Glacial Challenges of Traditional Surveying 

Ahead of each climbing season, a team of Sherpas called “Icefall Doctors” surveys the terrain by foot, sets the ladders, fixes the ropes, and establishes the route that every subsequent climber will follow. To do this, they must cross the Khumbu Icefall Base Camp (5,364 m) and Camp 1 (6,500 m), which is considered the most dangerous section of the Everest climb. 

Mapping the Dangerous Khumbu Icefall with DJI Matrice 4E 

Flying a pre–planned flight path at altitudes above 6,000 meters, the Matrice 4E surveyed over 3 square kilometers of the Khumbu Icefall in just 3.5 hours. The compact enterprise drone’s five-directional imaging system captured high-resolution oblique imagery of the icefall’s complex vertical structures in a single flight. No one needed to risk their lives to enter the survey area. 

Reconstructing and Monitoring Glacial Movements with DJI Terra 

The collected data was processed in DJI Terra to reconstruct the Khumbu Icefall into a high-precision 3D model with centimeter-level accuracy using next-generation reconstruction technologies including 3D Gaussian Splatting. These 3D models were then compared from different periods, informing icefall doctors on how specific sections of ice may have moved between surveys, where instability was increasing, and which corridors had remained stable enough to install ladders and ropes. 

Faster Data, Safer Routes, and a Record of a Changing IcefallA workflow that previously required weeks of on-foot surveying under hazardous conditions could now be completed in a single day. Moreover, icefall doctors no longer need to enter the icefall blind.  This proved critical during the 2026 climbing season. Overnight, a rare, large-scale serac field formed across the icefall, sealing every route to the summit. Hundreds of climbers were stranded at Base Camp. Fortunately, icefall doctors were able to rebuild the blocked routes and resume operations quickly with DJI’s advanced drone technology. 

In addition to mountaineering safety, the ability to rapidly and repeatedly model icefalls also provides scientists and environmental researchers with high-accuracy, reproducible data for tracking long-term change. Building this digital archive will prove to be crucial as climate change accelerates glacier thinning.

Il provvedimento, che si inserisce nel progetto regionale Giovanisì, prevede l’assegnazione di borse di studio comprensive di contributo economico, accesso gratuito alle mense, posti alloggio nelle residenze universitarie ed esenzione dalle tasse per gli aventi diritto.

L’assessora regionale Cristina Manetti ha sottolineato l’importanza di questo strumento per sostenere gli studenti, indipendentemente dalle condizioni economiche di partenza, promuovendo il talento e garantendo servizi essenziali come la ristorazione e l’alloggio. Per accedere ai benefici, gli studenti devono essere iscritti o intenzionati a iscriversi agli atenei e agli istituti di alta formazione toscani, possedendo requisiti di reddito definiti da un ISEE fino a 27.000 euro e un ISPE fino a 60.000 euro.

Per quanto riguarda la disponibilità di posti letto, il DSU mette a disposizione 1.917 alloggi a Firenze, 1.705 a Pisa e 1.200 a Siena. In caso di esaurimento dei posti, è previsto un contributo integrativo per gli studenti fuori sede con regolare contratto d’affitto, che può arrivare a 3.150 euro per la borsa annuale e a 1.575 euro per quella semestrale. Le misure di sostegno si estendono anche a categorie specifiche come studenti con disabilità, genitori, care leavers e studentesse impegnate in percorsi STEM o doppi percorsi universitari.

A key driver behind this success is the development and widespread adoption of hydraulic cement (low-carbon cement), which reduces the clinker content – the most carbon-intensive component in cement production – while maintaining performance and structural integrity in accordance with Thai Industrial Standard TIS 2594. Today, hydraulic cement is extensively used across the country in infrastructure projects, public buildings, industrial facilities, and residential construction, marking a systemic shift from alternative material to mainstream low-carbon construction solution. 

Performance data underscores the pace of progress. In 2021, clinker substitution delivered over 300,000 tonnes of CO₂ reduction, achieving results nine years ahead of the NDC schedule. Between 2022–2023, an additional over 1 million tonnes of CO₂ reductions were realized. Cumulatively, from 2019 to present, emissions reductions have exceeded 3.8 million tonnes CO₂ equivalent. 

This progress has been enabled by an integrated effort among 34 implementing partners, with policy and institutional support from six ministries, covering policy formulation, standards development, market promotion, and enabling mechanisms; underscoring the role of public–private partnership (PPP) in driving systemic transition. 

Mr. Surachai further noted that the clinker substitution initiative represents a scalable model of translating national climate ambition into implementation, with potential for replication across other industrial sectors and expansion into regional collaboration frameworks.

Le indagini, a suo tempo condotte dal Nucleo Speciale Polizia Valutaria, scaturirono dalle dichiarazioni di Felice Maniero, ex capo della citata associazione criminale e consentirono di individuare la destinazione dei proventi illeciti dei reati commessi dall’associazione mafiosa.

Le investigazioni, svolte attraverso accertamenti bancari, analisi documentale, indagini tecniche, approfondimenti economico-patrimoniali ai fini della determinazione della sproporzione reddituale, rogatorie internazionali disposte dall’autorità giudiziaria, assunzioni a sommarie informazioni di persone informate sui fatti e riscontri in loco, hanno consentito di confermare le dichiarazioni dell’ex capo della citata associazione mafiosa e individuare i proventi illeciti impiegati per l’acquisto di beni immobili e mobili, tra cui orologi (Rolex e Cartier) e autovetture di lusso, strumenti finanziari di investimento riconducibili a Felice Maniero.

L’attività investigativa si era conclusa con l’esecuzione di un’ordinanza di custodia cautelare e con il contestuale sequestro di beni immobili, disponibilità finanziarie, autovetture e beni di lusso, in relazione alle condotte di riciclaggio dei proventi illeciti dell’associazione mafiosa capeggiata da Felice Maniero.

Pertanto a seguito della sentenza definitiva di condanna, il tribunale di Venezia ha disposto la confisca dei beni, riconducibili al condannato e ai propri congiunti, consistenti in 2 immobili siti in Provincia di Firenze e Lucca, 5 autovetture, gioielli e quadri di valore affidati in amministrazione giudiziaria, disponibilità finanziarie depositate in conti correnti e il contenuto delle cassette di sicurezza di due istituti bancari nella zona di Empoli (denaro contante per 90 mila euro e 15 orologi di lusso), per un ammontare complessivo sottoposto a confisca pari a circa due milioni di euro.

La confisca di patrimoni illeciti costituisce una importante forma di contrasto agli illeciti economici e finanziari ma assume anche un valore sociale poiché consente di restituire alla collettività ricchezze accumulate nel tempo dalle organizzazioni criminali.
