BEIJING, Sept. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Deep in Uzbekistan’s Jizzakh Region, a vast solar farm is transforming the landscape of the Gobi Desert. Tens of thousands of photovoltaic panels stretch across the barren land, capturing sunlight to generate clean energy. 

In March, Phase I of the power plant project, built and operated by a Chinese company, began commercial operations. Once fully completed, the project is expected to generate 1.1 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, enough to meet the needs of around 400,000 residents. 

The solar plant is one of the latest examples of China-SCO cooperation translating into tangible development outcomes. Over the past 25 years, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has expanded from a regional security mechanism into a broad platform for cooperation, with development becoming an increasingly important focus. 

Prioritizing development to boost shared prosperity 

On Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the 26th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States, which coincided with the 25th anniversary of the organization’s founding. 

During his speech, Xi put forward four proposals for advancing the SCO’s future development. One key proposal he emphasized was to prioritize development and work toward shared prosperity among SCO member states. 

He also highlighted the Shanghai Spirit, featuring mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for diversity of civilizations and pursuit of common development, saying the Shanghai Spirit is the organization’s most valuable spiritual asset. 

Over the past 25 years, guided by the Shanghai Spirit, the SCO has seen growing trade, deeper investment ties and stronger regional connectivity, creating new opportunities for economic development across the region. 

The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, for instance, shows how infrastructure cooperation is driving regional development. In December 2024, its construction officially began. Once completed, the route will become a major transport corridor linking China with Central Asia and the wider Eurasian continent, greatly improving trade efficiency and creating broader economic opportunities. 

Various cooperation platforms are also facilitating closer economic exchanges among SCO states. Last month, a local economic and trade cooperation conference was held in Bishkek, bringing together more than 100 companies. The event resulted in 193 cooperation agreements and trade deals worth around 1.74 billion yuan ($259 million). Meanwhile, the China-SCO Digital Economy Cooperation Platform, launched in Tianjin one year ago, has already facilitated 29 cross-border cooperation projects covering areas such as computing infrastructure, digital trade and commercial aerospace. 

Over the past 25 years, the SCO has evolved into a major regional cooperation platform. Its economic cooperation is shifting from individual projects to stronger institutional frameworks and from bilateral efforts to multilateral coordination, paving the way for more integrated, high-quality and sustainable development across the region. 

China: A strong promoter of SCO cooperation 

At Tuesday’s summit, Xi said China views the SCO as a priority area for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and for implementing the Global Development Initiative. 

He announced that China would continue hosting events such as the SCO Digital Economy Forum and the SCO Agricultural Expo and will develop an international AI application cooperation center with SCO countries, implement 100 technological cooperation projects with other SCO countries in the next three years and nurture more green industry talents through China-SCO cooperation. 

As a founding member of the SCO, China has been a key driver of practical cooperation within the organization. 

Shortly after the SCO was founded, China proposed advancing trade and investment facilitation among member states. In 2003, the SCO adopted a multilateral economic cooperation program featuring a three-stage roadmap: promoting trade and investment facilitation in the short term, building stable and transparent rules in the medium term and gradually enabling freer flows of goods, capital, services and technology in the long term. 

China has also provided financial support for regional cooperation projects. As of July 2025, China’s accumulated investment in other SCO member states had exceeded $84 billion, making it the largest source of investment and financing for Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Pakistan. 

At last year’s Tianjin Summit, China proposed establishing cooperation platforms in energy, green industries and the digital economy, along with centers for scientific innovation, higher education and vocational education. All six initiatives have since been launched, generating more than 160 cooperation projects covering clean energy, digital applications and joint talent development. 

Egor Prokhin, a researcher at Russia’s Higher School of Economics, said China has played a central role in the SCO’s development.

Traveling more than 15,000 km through the stratosphere in 13 days, upon arrival over Japan, ST1 demonstrated mobile broadband connectivity to unmodified devices through SoftBank Corp.’s core network and HAPS-based edge computing and communication with drones to support the development of a 3D communications network.

Nura Studios launches Showcraft, a professional platform for filmmakers, animators and producers bringing AI into production. 

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Nura Studios today announced the public availability of Nura Showcraft, a production platform designed to help filmmakers bring their stories from creative vision to finished production using AI. 

AI is making images, video and animation cheaper to generate just as production costs rise and financing tightens. But generating shots is not the same as making a production.

The New York City Marathon accepted just 1% of its 240,000 public lottery applicants this year. At the current rate, a reservation to raft the Grand Canyon could take up to 18 years to get. 

Jade Peak, a travel editorial and expedition company, today published the first edition of its Access Index, “Bucket Lists Are Now Waitlists.” The report built a register of more than 300 outdoor activities in 90 countries, then analyzed dozens of trips using factors like cost, qualifying standard, and time to sell out. 

The likelihood anyone gets in via the public lottery system is dropping, while fees have barely moved. 

“For US residents, nine in ten US national parks charge the same entrance fee they charged in 2020,” said Marina Herraiz, co-founder of Jade Peak. “Against inflation, that’s actually a price reduction in real terms.” 

For travellers, Herraiz’s advice is to prioritize the events that are prioritizing you. “Some organizers have special routes for repeat applicants, where tickets double each consecutive year you apply.”

VIAREGGIO – Un cittadino marocchino di 26 anni è stato arrestato a Viareggio con l’accusa di detenzione ai fini di spaccio di sostanze stupefacenti. L’operazione è stata condotta dalla Polizia di Stato nel pomeriggio del 28 agosto, nei pressi della stazione ferroviaria della città.

Una pattuglia della Squadra Volante ha notato il giovane seduto ai tavoli esterni del bar dello scalo. Il suo atteggiamento visibilmente nervoso ha spinto gli agenti a procedere con un controllo. Le verifiche effettuate tramite le banche dati hanno rivelato che l’uomo aveva a suo carico diversi precedenti specifici per droga ed era già sottoposto alla misura dell’obbligo di presentazione alla Polizia Giudiziaria.

Di fronte al perdurare dello stato di agitazione del ventiseienne, gli operatori hanno deciso di eseguire una perquisizione personale. All’interno del portafoglio e in una tasca nascosta, ricavata appositamente nei pantaloni, sono stati trovati oltre 60 grammi di droga. Nel dettaglio, le forze dell’ordine hanno sequestrato 18 involucri di cellophane termosaldati contenenti 12,3 grammi di cocaina e un ‘panetto’ di hashish del peso di 52,4 grammi. Insieme alle sostanze, l’uomo aveva con sé 575 euro in contanti, suddivisi in banconote di vario taglio: la somma è stata sequestrata in quanto ritenuta provento dell’attività illecita, non avendo l’uomo alcuna occupazione lavorativa lecita.

Il materiale è stato analizzato e confermato dai test della Polizia Scientifica presso il Commissariato locale. Alla luce degli indizi e dei precedenti, è scattato l’arresto in flagranza di reato.

LUCCA – La saltatrice in alto Idea Pieroni ha conquistato la medaglia di bronzo ai Giochi del Mediterraneo. La manifestazione, che raduna con cadenza quadriennale ventisei comitati olimpici nazionali, ha visto l’atleta originaria di Barga salire sul terzo gradino del podio allo stadio Giuseppe Valente di Taranto.

In un contesto climatico segnato da temperature elevate, Pieroni ha iniziato la propria gara superando le quote di 1,75 e 1,80 metri al primo tentativo. Il percorso è proseguito con il superamento delle misure di 1,84 e 1,87 alla seconda prova. Il salto decisivo per garantirsi una medaglia è arrivato alla quota di 1,90 metri, misura superata al terzo e ultimo tentativo. La saltatrice ha successivamente tentato, senza successo, due assalti a 1,92 e un’ultima prova a 1,94, quota che le avrebbe garantito il nuovo primato personale.

Il gradino più alto del podio è stato conquistato dalla montenegrina Vukovic, medaglia d’oro con la misura di 1,94 metri, seguita dalla cipriota Kulichenko, argento con 1,92. La seconda atleta italiana iscritta alla competizione, Marta Morara, ha concluso la gara in decima posizione fermandosi a 1,80 metri.

Il piazzamento di Pieroni rappresenta una prima volta per il movimento sportivo lucchese: si tratta della prima medaglia internazionale assoluta vinta da un’atleta che svolge la propria preparazione al campo scuola Moreno Martini di Lucca, allenata da un tecnico della Virtus, Luca Rapè. The PUDU GT3 is a 36-inch (91 cm) commercial compact robotic mower designed for facilities management companies and in-house grounds teams responsible for properties with fragmented, irregular layouts — think business parks, campuses, hospitals, and mixed hardscape-and-turf sites that are too small or too segmented for large mowing equipment, yet too labor-intensive to maintain by hand. 

GT3 combines mowing, grass collection and light debris pickup on turf with sweeping and debris collection on paved areas. Its integrated disc brushes are suited to light-cleaning needs around paths, road edges and turf boundaries. By putting mowing and routine sweeping on one compact platform, GT3 can be used more frequently across a property while reducing equipment switching for everyday grounds care. 

PUDU GT5 — High-Productivity Mowing for Large Commercial Turf 

The PUDU GT5 is a 60-inch (152 cm) commercial robotic rotary mower designed for landscaping and grounds-maintenance contractors, facility management companies and operators responsible for parks, campuses, commercial properties, communities and other extensive turf areas. 

GT5 is engineered for demanding, repeated commercial mowing cycles. Its 60-inch cutting width supports a target operating efficiency of approximately 2 acres (8,090 ㎡) per hour, with up to 10 hours of runtime and coverage of up to 16 acres (65,000 ㎡) on a single charge, depending on operating conditions. 

GT5 cuts and collects in one pass, gathering grass clippings, leaves and light turf debris as it mows. Removing this material during the mowing process helps maintain a cleaner finish and supports healthier-looking turf, while the wide cutting width and collection workflow help professional crews improve continuity across large areas. 

PUDU GT7 — Precision Reel Mowing for Professional Turf 

The PUDU GT7 is a 62-inch (160 cm) triplex reel mower designed for golf courses, professional sports fields and other professional turf environments where cut quality, consistency, turf protection and boundary control are critical. 

GT7 integrates RTK, LiDAR and camera vision for high-precision positioning and autonomous navigation, with RTK positioning accuracy of up to ±2.5 centimeters under supported conditions. Operators can configure cutting angles, lane offsets and directional rotations to establish standardized mowing patterns and reproduce professional striping across turf areas. 

GT7 features three independently floating reel units and tool-free height-of-cut (HOC)adjustment. The floating cutting heads follow changes in terrain closely to help maintain a consistent HOC across undulating surfaces, while tool-free adjustment allows operators to change cutting height without additional tools. The platform combines a 62-inch (160 cm) cutting width, while four-wheel drive and the ability to climb slopes of up to 30 degrees support operation across complex terrain. 

Designed for environments where turf quality and operating conditions matter, GT7 also delivers a quieter mowing experience. Without a traditional combustion engine and with a low-noise reel system, GT7 operates quietly enough to preserve the surrounding environment, making it suitable for noise-sensitive locations such as golf courses and sports facilities. 

AI-Native Intelligence and Flexible Operation Across the GT Series 

While the GT3, GT5 and GT7 are designed for different applications, they share an AI-native perception and autonomy architecture built for commercial outdoor environments. LiDAR, camera vision and depth sensing enable the mowers to perceive people, vehicles, animals, terrain and other obstacles, while autonomous mapping, navigation and obstacle avoidance support reliable operation across complex work areas. 

All three models integrate fan vacuum and a dedicated grass-intake port for in-process collection, with autonomous dumping and task resumption available depending on the deployment configuration. 

Each model also includes manual drive mode for operator-controlled mowing, positioning and other tasks that require direct intervention. Together, these capabilities allow grounds teams to combine autonomous routine work with hands-on control when site conditions or operational priorities call for it. 

The GT Series is also built for the demands of commercial outdoor work, with an all-metal body, commercial-grade steel chassis, IP66-rated protection and emergency-stop functionality.
